Jeanne

As much as I hate to do it, I find have to. I need to briefly mention Hurricane Jeanne. Warren (Kathy's dad) called us a little after 7:30AM this morning and let us know that they made it through the storm. They took a direct hit from Hurricane Jeanne late last night and early this morning. The eye passed directly over them. Warren was very, very upset. He lives in a retirement community in Avon Park near Sebring. Warren and his girlfriend Jean rode the storm out at Warrens house, they had close to 100mph winds. Like I said they are safe, a bit shaken up but Ok. However, Warren's house suffered some pretty significant damage. He said the entire carport and screen room were ripped up and over the top his house into a spot between his house and his neighbors yard. He noticed his car was scratched up a bit as well. He hasn't had a chance to get out and get on the roof or really investigate the damage because the winds are still pretty stiff. He did say that his girlfriend Jeans house appears to have made it through without any damage. Warren said he would never ride out another hurricane it was just to scary. They are without water and power, they have no idea for how long. Please keep Warren and Jean in your thoughts and prayers as they begin to digout from this storm. We're just thankful that they are fine and did not get hurt.

We are now in a Tropical Storm Warning meaning we are going to get some wind and rain from this storm. How much, we're not sure. The storm is supposed to start turning north away from us but once it gets in the gulf anything can happen. We'll keep an eye on it and do what we need to do to keep safe. We'll let you know if anything significant happens with this storm and the impact on us. Hope everyone is well and having a good weekend.

Tell me again why you live in Florida?
Dad called and they don't have power , but little damage. They went and stayed in a REAL house like you are supposed to...(wink)

Here in God's Country, Iowa, we have 70 delightful degrees, sunny and a mild,a fresh breeze, and gently falling leaves that are beginning their autumnal change of hues.

The sweet chirping birds telling of the cool nights are music to our midwestern ears. At night, we snuggle with our loved ones while adding another homemade quilt to our tanned and lean limbs. As we descend into our fall slumber, we dream of the beautiful walks through the forests , crunching the fallen leaves and smelling their punguent aroma that forebears yet cooler breezes to come.

Oh yeah, and Hawkeye football games.........

Nice Try. I've lived back there so I really know that what you're actually smelling is cow manure. The cool breeze that you feel is the forebearer to the harsh and cruel winter you are about to endure. When the snow is piled up to your butt cheeks and you can't get out of your driveway, we'll see who'll be laughing then. And remember once all that snow melts the waters will rise and the floods will come. These storms will eventually pass and we will once again walk upon sugar sand beaches and gaze upon emerald green water. As you scrape the ice from your car windows and shovel the snow from your sidewalks think of us mulling about in shorts and tee shirts. For as you drink your hot chocolate to warm your freezing bodies we will be in our beach chair slowly sipping on some exotic pink drink with a small umbrella in it. All the time saying to ourselves "This is why we live in Florida....Not Iowa".
